Bac Ninh FC earned promotion to the V-League after a tense penalty shootout against PVF-CAND

Bac Ninh FC achieved a historic milestone by defeating PVF-CAND in the promotion playoff match via a dramatic penalty shootout.

After 90 intense minutes ended 1-1, the Kinh Bac side won 5-4 on penalties to secure their place in Vietnam's top football league.

The match was played at a high tempo from the opening whistle. Bac Ninh FC started confidently and quickly applied pressure on PVF-CAND's goal. In just the 5th minute, the yellow-clad team had a dangerous chance from a corner kick, forcing goalkeeper Do Sy Huy to stay alert and make a save.

The opening minutes saw Bac Ninh as the more proactive side. Their attacking moves repeatedly troubled PVF-CAND's defense. In the 21st minute, Bruno Cunha headed the ball just over the crossbar in a missed opportunity.

After sustained efforts, Bac Ninh FC finally broke the deadlock. In the 33rd minute, Bruno Cunha was fouled inside the box, and the striker stepped up to convert the penalty, giving Bac Ninh a 1-0 lead.

Trailing, PVF-CAND pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Coach Mauro Jeronimo's side created several chances but failed to breach the opponent's defense in the first half. The opening 45 minutes ended with Bac Ninh FC holding the advantage.

In the second half, PVF-CAND continued to increase the pressure. Their attacking efforts soon paid off. In the 55th minute, from a wing attack, Hoang Vu Samson rose high to head the ball home, leveling the match.

After equalizing, PVF-CAND played with more confidence and created a balanced contest. Meanwhile, Bac Ninh FC repeatedly adjusted their lineup to maintain pressure and seek a decisive goal. However, neither side could capitalize on their chances in the remaining time.

From the spot, the psychological battle was incredibly tense. After the first five rounds, the teams were still tied with three successful conversions each. PVF-CAND gained an advantage in the sixth round when Huy Hung scored, but Bac Ninh FC responded with a precise strike from The Hung.

Entering the seventh round, a turning point emerged. Vu Tin of PVF-CAND failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper, while Van Truong calmly completed his task, securing a 5-4 victory for Bac Ninh FC in the shootout.
