Legend Raul Gonzalez leaves open the possibility of coaching the Indonesian national team.

The Real Madrid and Spanish football legend Raul Gonzalez surprised many by expressing interest in potentially coaching the Indonesian national team in the future.

During a conversation on the YouTube channel Sport77 Official, the former Real Madrid captain stated he is awaiting a new challenge after six years of coaching in the youth ranks of the Spanish royal club.

After managing Real Madrid Castilla and gaining coaching experience, Raul has not accepted any team's offer and is ready for a new chapter in his career.

"I have been a coach for six years. But now I am free and waiting for a chance to return to coaching," Raul shared.

Notably, when asked about the possibility of working in Indonesia, the 48-year-old former star did not rule it out.

"Perhaps here, in Indonesia. Why not? Possibly in the future, about four or five years from now. National team coach. Why not?" Raul said.

The statement from the three-time Champions League winner quickly caught the attention of Indonesian fans, as the national team pursues continental ambition by appointing high-profile coaches.

Raul also revealed he has a close relationship with Luis Milla, former head coach of the Indonesian national team. The two were teammates at Real Madrid during the 1994/95 season, when Raul made his La Liga debut.

"Luis Milla is my friend. We played together at Real Madrid in the 1994/95 season, when I debuted in La Liga," the Spanish football legend said.

During a recent visit to Jakarta, Raul took part in a training program for young Indonesian players. What he observed left a strong positive impression on the former striker born in 1977.

"We had the chance to hold a training session with the kids, and it truly surprised me. They have talent and passion. Their dribbling and finishing skills are very impressive," Raul remarked.

Although it is only a suggestive comment, Raul Gonzalez's statement is enough to make Indonesian fans dream of seeing one of Real Madrid's greatest icons on the national team's coaching bench in the future.
