Ederson has passed his Manchester United medical and will be announced in due course; the transfer fee could rise! The Red Devils aim to secure two players in one package.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Brazilian midfielder Ederson has indeed completed the first part of his medical at Manchester United. His transfer is essentially finalized, and the €45 million deal will be announced on a suitable date. Romano explained: "Ederson from Atalanta has passed his preliminary medical with Manchester United. This €45 million transfer has been agreed upon and is expected to be officially announced at the appropriate time."

For the 26-year-old Ederson, this week has brought double good news. Besides his move to Manchester United being just a matter of time, he also made a substitute appearance in Brazil's 3-0 World Cup group-stage victory over Haiti, fulfilling his World Cup dream. Interestingly, he played as a right-back for the final 15 minutes of the match!

After the game, Ederson confirmed that the transfer to Manchester United is "practically almost all done." "Almost everything regarding the move to Manchester United has been arranged." He then added, "I have to make the most of the World Cup opportunity. It's incredible that I'm here, and such a chance should be fully utilized."

Ederson also told Sky Sport Italia: "I had to wait; now I want to enjoy the tournament, and we'll see about other things later."

According to British media, Ederson will fly to Manchester after Brazil's World Cup campaign concludes. At that point, the Italian side can issue the international transfer certificate, allowing the Brazilian to complete the final signing procedures for the transfer before beginning his three-week post-tournament vacation.

If the "Samba Army" advances further in the World Cup knockout stages, he may not join Manchester United's pre-season preparations until early August. As per the schedule released on Friday, United's first Premier League match of the new season will kick off on August 22.

Romano also stressed that Ederson's €45 million transfer fee does not include add-ons, which seems somewhat inconsistent with earlier reports. It is claimed that the total fee for Ederson could reach €50 million. Regardless, Manchester United's first signing of the summer window is now settled, and the club can turn its attention to the next deal, believed to be West Ham United's Portuguese midfielder Matheus Fernandes.

Tottenham joined the race for "M. Fernandes" this week, and Italian journalist Matteo Moretto even stated that Spurs are close to agreeing personal terms with the 21-year-old Portuguese youngster, who is open to joining Tottenham. This may be the strategy of his agent, Jorge Mendes, who is not turning down any proposal to maximize his own interests.

Manchester United remains confident that they will not be hijacked. They are currently the only club to have made official contact with West Ham, while Tottenham has not yet opened talks with the "Hammers." Romano said: "Negotiations for M. Fernandes are ongoing. Manchester United has been in direct contact with his agent and West Ham for weeks. Tottenham has also called the agent to try to enter the race. That is separate from the Tonali deal, where Tottenham is more confident of landing the Italian midfielder."

It is reported that Tottenham offered £75 million to £80 million for Tonali, but Newcastle United rejected it. The Magpies demanded a fixed fee of £85 million, with add-ons to bring the total to £100 million. As a result, Tottenham currently lacks the energy to pursue M. Fernandes, and Manchester United is far ahead in the process. M. Fernandes himself still prefers to join Manchester United.

Romano stated that if possible, Manchester United indeed wants to sign Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville in a package. "English clubs are more proactive in terms of financial investment and act faster. Regarding Summerville, Manchester United has been making inquiries about his situation, trying to work on a transfer deal together with M. Fernandes."
