Vietnam women's team firmly holds the top spot in Southeast Asia

Vietnam's women's team keeps affirming its top status in the Southeast Asian region, staying at 37th globally in the latest FIFA women's rankings for June 2026 released by the world football governing body.

Accordingly, coach Hoang Van Phuc's team has 1,594 points, ranking sixth in Asia and remaining the highest-ranked representative from Southeast Asia. Directly behind Vietnam are the Philippines (39th in the world), while Thailand is in 49th place.

On the continental level, Vietnam's women's team is only behind Japan, North Korea, Australia, China, and South Korea. Maintaining the sixth position in Asia demonstrates the stability of Vietnamese women's football over many years, despite increasingly fierce competition from regional rivals.

Among the top 10 women's teams in Southeast Asia, Myanmar is ranked 55th worldwide, Malaysia sits at 95th, and Indonesia is 110th. Cambodia has made the most impressive progress, climbing four places in this month's FIFA rankings. In contrast, Indonesia and Laos both dropped four spots compared to the previous update.

In the world rankings, the United States remains at number one with 2,069.06 points. Spain is second, followed by Germany, Brazil, and England.

Continuing to hold the top spot in Southeast Asia also provides additional motivation for Vietnam's women's team to aim for important goals ahead, including the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers and major international tournaments in the coming period.
