Patrik Lê Giang is confident about competing for a spot on the Vietnam national team.

The Vietnamese-born goalkeeper Patrik Lê Giang, who is among the three fresh faces called up to the Vietnam national team for the preparatory camp before the ASEAN Cup 2026, feels assured that he will adapt swiftly thanks to the support from the coaching board and his fellow players.

Speaking in an interview before this afternoon's training session (June 23) at the VFF Youth Training Center, Patrik Lê Giang stated: “This is a moment I have been waiting for over a long period, so officially being here for this gathering truly brings me a very special feeling.

I would like to express my gratitude to CLB Cong An TP.HCM, the Vietnam Football Federation, the fans, as well as my family and loved ones, who have always believed in me, supported me, and helped me throughout this journey. After more than three years of waiting, I finally have the opportunity to train with the Vietnam national team, and I deeply cherish that.

I hold great affection for all my teammates here, and I simply want to express my thanks for the warm welcome everyone has given me during these first few days.

In the near future, the Vietnam national team will travel to South Korea for a training camp to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Cup. The whole squad understands that this is a very important phase, so they will train hard with the highest spirit.

In my opinion, the team is not facing too many difficulties at the moment, although there are still a few players with injuries. However, they are all recovering actively, and I believe the entire squad will be well prepared for the upcoming tournament.”

During the first training session, the Vietnam national team did not have a full roster. Some players, such as central defender Duy Manh, were doing recovery exercises at the hotel due to not being in optimal physical condition.
