German coach at 38 steps down! Football Association holds 3-hour meeting demanding his resignation, offering 7 million euros in compensation

In a report from the German authoritative media "Bild" on the evening of July 2, it was revealed that following a three-hour meeting, the German Football Association demanded the 38-year-old head coach to step down voluntarily, offering a compensation of 7 million euros.Watch the World Cup on Migu Video

Two days ago, in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, the German men's national team suffered a shocking defeat in a penalty shootout against Paraguay, failing to reach the last 16 for the third consecutive World Cup, a new humiliating record.

Although after the match, Nagelsmann insisted he would not resign voluntarily, upon returning home, it seems he might still face dismissal.

It is reported that Nagelsmann met with several high-ranking officials at the German Football Association headquarters in Frankfurt, including President Bernd Neuendorf, Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke, Sports Director Rudi Völler, and Managing Director of Sports Affairs Andreas Rettig, for a three-hour meeting.

After lengthy discussions, the German Football Association demanded that Nagelsmann voluntarily resign, offering a compensation of 7 million euros.

This amount is equivalent to Nagelsmann's annual salary with the national team, and his contract with the German Football Association still has two years remaining, until the end of the 2028 European Championship. The senior management hopes to provide Nagelsmann with a graceful exit, allowing him to leave with dignity.

Reports indicate that Nagelsmann is expected to make a final decision by early next week. If he steps down, the German Football Association has essentially set its sights on the legendary 59-year-old coach Jürgen Klopp as his successor.

Klopp has not returned to coaching since leaving the Liverpool position two years ago. He has mentioned that he would only be persuaded to "come out of retirement" if offered the role of head coach of the German men's national team.
