Yesterday afternoon, July 7, the Vietnam national team continued training in Incheon. The coaching staff focused on attacking options, refining coordination and team formation ahead of the match against Yongin FC, a team currently competing in K.League 2.
Previously, Vietnam defeated Siheung FC 6-0 in their first friendly on July 5. Coach Kim Sang Sik used two different lineups in each half to test the squad, evaluate the integration of new players, and experiment with personnel options.
Hoang Hen scored a brace in the win against Siheung FC. The midfielder stated that team spirit and mutual support left a strong impression during his training days with the Vietnam national team.
The match against Yongin FC will offer higher professional quality than the first test. It gives Coach Kim Sang Sik a chance to further assess the squad, refine tactical plans and personnel choices before the Vietnam national team begins their campaign to defend the Southeast Asian championship.
Olympic Vietnam's opponents at ASIAD 2026 have been revealed.
The list of teams competing in men's football at ASIAD 2026 has been confirmed, with Olympic Vietnam being one of three representatives from Southeast Asia.

According to the list, Southeast Asia is represented by Olympic Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. Initially, 16 teams from the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualified for ASIAD. Australia did not send a team, so Hong Kong (China) took the replacement spot. Later, India withdrew, and the Philippines became the final team to join.
Olympic Vietnam is expected to have a favorable position in the group draw, scheduled for July 23, following their bronze medal at the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup. A good seeding could help Olympic Vietnam avoid some strong opponents in the group stage.
Regarding the squad, Olympic Vietnam will rely on players born between 2005 and 2007. This generation is being groomed for the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia.
ASIAD 20 will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. Olympic Vietnam sees this continental stage as a key opportunity for young players to gain experience, strengthen their resilience, and aim for long-term goals in Vietnamese football.
