Returning to the match at Hard Rock Stadium, Norway started confidently and applied pressure through the mobility of Alexander Sørloth and Erling Haaland. After several missed chances, the Nordic side broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. From a midfield steal, Andreas Schjelderup delivered a tricky lob that goalkeeper Jordan Pickford could not stop.

Falling behind, England pushed forward and found the equalizer in stoppage time of the first half. Anthony Gordon sent a low cross that Jude Bellingham handled with finesse before firing a diagonal shot into the net, leveling the score.

The second half was played at a high tempo as Norway continued to apply pressure. Ståle Solbakken's side had the ball in the net from a corner kick, but VAR determined that Erling Haaland had committed a foul beforehand, so the goal was disallowed. On the other end, Jordan Pickford made several saves to deny dangerous shots from Haaland and his teammates, including a shot that hit the crossbar in the 76th minute.

The score was 1-1 after 90 minutes, sending the match into extra time. Just three minutes into the additional period, Morgan Rogers unleashed a long-range shot that goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland failed to hold. Bellingham was on hand to tap the rebound into an empty net, completing his brace and bringing his total goals in the 2026 World Cup to six.

The closing minutes saw Norway throw everything forward. Oscar Bobb missed a golden opportunity in the 115th minute, while the Nordic side also strongly protested the referee's decision not to award a corner kick after a controversial play. However, England held firm to secure the 2-1 victory.

Thanks to Jude Bellingham's outstanding performance, England have booked their place in the 2026 World Cup semifinals and continue to nurture hopes of winning their first world championship since 1966.
