National U21 Championship: The Cong Viettel and Hanoi both showcase their strength

The Cong Viettel beat HAGL 3-1, while Hanoi U21 crushed An Giang 6-0 at the 2026 National U21 finals.

On the afternoon of July 14, the 2026 National U21 Football Championship finals continued with exciting matches in Groups A and B at PVF Stadium. The highlight of the day was The Cong Viettel’s 3-1 victory over HAGL, while Hanoi U21 displayed their dominance by demolishing An Giang 6-0 to secure all three points.

In the notable Group B clash, HAGL entered the game with confidence and created several dangerous chances. Experienced players Gia Bao and Minh Tam repeatedly threatened The Cong Viettel’s goal but failed to convert. After enduring pressure, the military team unexpectedly took the lead in the 27th minute when Hoang Khanh unleashed a beautiful shot from outside the box to open the scoring.

With the advantage, The Cong Viettel played more energetically and capitalized on counterattacks. In the 42nd minute, Cong Phuong sprinted down the right flank and crossed for Huu Tuan to tap in from close range, doubling the lead. In the second half, HAGL fought back and reduced the deficit to 1-2 with a finish from Gia Bao in the 57th minute. However, minutes later, Cong Phuong again made an impact by assisting Cong Hau to score, sealing a 3-1 victory for The Cong Viettel.

In the other Group B match, U21 SLNA also put on an effective performance, beating Tay Ninh 2-0. Pham Van Nam and Nguyen Tan Minh scored to give the Nghe An side three crucial points ahead of their final group match against HAGL, giving them an advantage in the race for a knockout spot.

In Group A, Hanoi U21 proved their title contender status with a dominant 6-0 win over An Giang. The capital side completely controlled the game and consistently pressured the opponent’s defense, which could not cope. This was the biggest victory in the finals so far, giving Hanoi a big advantage in the race for a semifinal spot.

In the other Group A match, hosts PVF-CAND edged past Ho Chi Minh City 2-1 with a dramatic late finish. Ba Dat opened the scoring early, but Ho Chi Minh City equalized before halftime. Just as the match seemed headed for a draw, Ba Dat shone again with a goal in the 89th minute, securing three valuable points for PVF-CAND. After this round, the competition in both groups promises to remain thrilling as teams enter decisive group-stage matches.
