More overseas Vietnamese Gen Z midfielder officially arrives in V.League

Steel Xanh Nam Dinh FC keeps making waves in the transfer market as it officially unveils the signing of Vietnamese-Austrian midfielder Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis.

On the evening of July 28, Nam Định Club's official website confirmed the recruitment of Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis. In the announcement, the Nam Dinh-based team wrote: "Welcome Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis to the Thép Xanh Nam Định family!"

According to the club's introduction, Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis was born on March 31, 2006, and is an Austrian overseas Vietnamese player who plays as a midfielder. He carries Vietnamese blood from his father and grew up in the Austrian football environment, praised for possessing modern football thinking, good technical foundation, and confidence in ball-handling situations.

Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis is 1.76 m tall and can play both as a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder. Before moving to the V.League, the 2006-born player wore the shirt of Wolfsberger AC II, the reserve team of Austrian club Wolfsberger AC. With this team, he made 37 appearances, scored 3 goals, and contributed 3 assists, demonstrating fairly impressive attacking support for a young midfielder.

Not only does he draw attention for his professional skills, but Van-Alessandro also has a special background. His father is of Vietnamese origin, while his mother has Spanish and Greek heritage. In a previous sharing, Van-Alessandro said his father does not currently hold Vietnamese citizenship and the related paperwork has not been finalized.

Before returning to Vietnam, Van-Alessandro was called up to the Austrian U16 national team. Having been trained in the European football environment, he is expected to bring new energy and increase competition in Nam Định's midfield area.

The coaching staff of the Thiên Trường stadium team believes that the 20-year-old midfielder will quickly integrate into the overall playing style and bring out his outstanding qualities such as rhythm control, ball handling in tight spaces, and modern tactical thinking.

Notably, Van-Alessandro Nguyen Skyriotis is the third overseas Vietnamese player recruited by Nam Định this summer. Previously, the Nam Dinh-based club had announced two overseas Vietnamese defenders: Reece Minh-Kai (USA) and Tyler James Thai Crawford (Canada).
