Vietnamese player reports great news after serious injury

Bui Vi Hao has successfully undergone surgery for a torn knee ligament, but he will have to be sidelined until the end of 2026 for treatment and recovery.

Striker Bui Vi Hao has undergone knee injury surgery successfully after suffering a torn ligament during training with Becamex TP.HCM. Although the surgery went smoothly, the 2003-born striker will enter a long period of treatment and recovery, meaning he will officially say goodbye to the pitch for the remainder of 2026.

On the morning of July 30, representatives of Becamex TP.HCM's leadership and the club's fan association were present at Van Hanh Hospital to visit and encourage Vĩ Hào after his surgery. The club's concern is seen as an important spiritual boost for the striker from An Giang during the toughest period of his career, as he once again faces a serious injury.

Bui Vi Hao has successfully undergone surgery after a torn knee ligament.

Vĩ Hào suffered the injury during a training session preparing for the 2026/27 National First Division season. After medical examinations, doctors determined that the 23-year-old striker had severe knee ligament damage and needed immediate surgery to ensure recovery. According to the medical team's assessment, he will need several months of rehabilitation and will certainly be unable to play until the end of 2026.

This is a huge shock not only for Becamex TP.HCM but also for Bui Vi Hao personally. Just over a year ago, this striker also had to undergo surgery after suffering a fracture of the lower third of the fibula along with a torn right ankle ligament. When he had just returned and gradually regained his form, Vĩ Hào once again faced another serious injury, making his career development path more challenging.

Vĩ Hào's long-term absence also makes him miss the upcoming plans of the Vietnam national team. The 2003-born striker was highly regarded by coach Kim Sang Sik and was part of the AFF Cup 2024 championship journey, before being expected to become an important attacking force for the national team in the following years. However, the injury forces him to temporarily put aside his goal of returning to the red shirt.

At the club level, Becamex TP.HCM will have to find a replacement for the gap left by Bui Vi Hao in the new season. Although there is still a long recovery journey ahead, fans still have faith in the resilience of the 23-year-old striker. With the determination that once helped him overcome a previous serious injury, Vĩ Hào is expected to return strongly soon and continue to prove his talent in both the club and the Vietnam national team.
