6-0! 6-0! Snooker Shanghai Masters Match Report: Three of the Four Semifinalists Confirmed, Zhao Xintong's Next Opponent Is Strong

On July 29 Beijing time, three quarterfinal matches of the Snooker Shanghai Masters have concluded, resulting in two major blowouts. Zhao Xintong whitewashed Australia's Neil Robertson 6-0, Kyren Wilson edged out Mark Williams 6-5, and world number one Judd Trump swept John Higgins, one of the 75ers, 6-0. Thus, three semifinal spots have been secured: Zhao Xintong, Kyren Wilson, and Judd Trump. The 75ers have been completely eliminated; it seems they are really getting old!

Zhao Xintong faced Neil Robertson. Zhao has made rapid progress, rising to third in the world rankings. Against the highly decorated Robertson, one of the 80s Five Tigers, Zhao displayed astonishing dominance. He was overwhelming throughout, with razor-sharp accuracy, quickly controlling the pace and sweeping Robertson 6-0 with irresistible force, advancing to the semifinals without breaking a sweat. The match was a relentless offensive display, smooth and flowing. It must be said that Zhao Xintong is now incredibly strong, firmly entering the ranks of top-tier superstars!

Kyren Wilson faced Mark Williams. This was a peak showdown between a post-90s player and one of the 75ers. The match was full of twists and turns, highly dramatic. Kyren Wilson started hot, taking a 3-1 lead with a small surge. However, Mark Williams then responded with two century breaks, combining offense and defense, winning four straight frames to take a 5-3 lead and reach match point. Just when he was one step away from the semifinals, Wilson refused to give up and showed great resilience, launching a fierce counterattack. He saved match points consecutively, firing two 50+ breaks to level the score at 5-5. In the decisive frame, he pressed on and knocked in a century break to win, taking three frames in a row to edge out Mark Williams 6-5 and book a semifinal spot!

Judd Trump faced John Higgins. Trump, as the leader of the 80s Five Tigers, is immensely strong and currently ranked world number one. Facing the most experienced of the 75ers, Higgins, it was expected to be a tough battle with intense exchanges. But the match turned out to be surprisingly one-sided. Higgins was completely out of form, his offense muted, unable to withstand Trump's powerful assault. He was thoroughly beaten, losing six straight frames 0-6, failing to reach the semifinals. It seems Higgins is also getting old!

One semifinal matchup has been confirmed: two post-90s stars, Zhao Xintong and Kyren Wilson, will battle for a place in the final. Zhao's opponent is strong, so he must not be complacent. Meanwhile, Judd Trump will face the winner between Wu Yize and Shaun Murphy for the other final spot. Let's wait and see!
