Casemiro shares one thing about Messi upon joining Inter Miami

Casemiro stated that Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time and disclosed that the Argentine star was the biggest factor in his decision to join Inter Miami.

Midfielder Casemiro affirms that Lionel Messi is the greatest player in history and reveals that the presence of the Argentine superstar led him to decide to join Inter Miami during the 2026 summer transfer window.

During his unveiling ceremony at the new club, the former Manchester United midfielder said he turned down many attractive offers to move to MLS, with the main goal being to play alongside Messi. "I came here to play with the best player of all time. I want to help him continue winning more titles, because Messi was born to win. I am also someone who always yearns to conquer new heights," Casemiro shared.

The Brazilian midfielder signed a contract with Inter Miami on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United. The deal runs until the end of the 2027 season, with an option to extend until 2029.

Casemiro revealed he received many offers from Serie A and other leagues, but ultimately chose Inter Miami. "I had many options, but this is where I truly wanted to come. Messi, to me, is one of the greatest players, even a 'god' of football. I want to contribute to making him even greater."

During nine years at Real Madrid, Casemiro faced Messi many times when the Argentine star was still playing for Barcelona. He admitted that was the biggest challenge of his career. "Messi once gave me countless difficulties. Every time I faced him, I always needed the support of my teammates to stop him. I once dreamed of one day playing with Messi, and now that has become a reality."

Casemiro made his Inter Miami debut in a 1-0 win over CF Montreal last weekend. Meanwhile, Messi has just returned to training after his post-2026 World Cup break and is likely to return to action soon.

Casemiro's arrival is expected to significantly strengthen the midfield, helping Inter Miami continue competing for the MLS title as well as major honors for the remainder of the season.
