OFFICIAL: Vietnam's largest stadium in the world renamed to VinFast

The 135,000-seat stadium, previously called Trống Đồng or Lạc Việt, has been officially renamed VinFast by Vingroup.

Vingroup has just officially announced the renaming of Hùng Vương Stadium, a key project under the Vinhomes Global Sportia development, to "VinFast Stadium". The choice of the electric car brand name developed by the group is seen as a similar move to the stadium naming rights model adopted by enterprises in many countries.

VinFast Stadium is expected to be built on an area of about 73.3 hectares within the Hanoi International Sports City, with a capacity of up to 135,000 seats, about four times that of Mỹ Đình Stadium. Upon completion, the facility is expected to be among the largest stadiums in the world, capable of hosting international sports, cultural, and entertainment events.

The stadium's design is inspired by the Lạc bird and Đông Sơn bronze drum, combining traditional elements with modern architecture. Key features include an automatic retractable roof system and a VVIP area meeting high standards, capable of hosting heads of state, international delegations, and major events.

The facility is also envisioned to become one of the world's leading green and smart stadiums. An AI system will support security management, real-time crowd flow coordination, and utility operations. The pitch can be replaced within 6-10 hours, while 5G-connected seats enhance the audience experience.

In terms of sustainability, the VinFast Stadium is expected to adopt water recovery, treatment, and reuse solutions, saving up to 70% of clean water. Natural ventilation systems, heat-absorbing limited materials, and UV-resistant features are also integrated to reduce energy consumption. Surrounding the stadium is a chain of auxiliary facilities, forming a large-scale sports, entertainment, and cultural complex.

The VinFast Stadium will be the highlight of the approximately 9,200-hectare Hanoi International Sports City, linked to the expansion of the capital's southern urban area. The project also connects to Belt Road 4, Ngọc Hồi Station, the North-South high-speed railway, and the urban railway network. The facility is expected to be completed in the 2027-2028 period, aiming to host ASIAD, FIFA World Cup, or Olympic Games in the future.
