The pit is too deep! Manchester United has only sold one player at a bargain price this summer window, and it is reported that a Turkish top club is willing to offer high wages to sign Rashford.

In the history of Manchester United, the 2007 summer transfer window is considered the most successful, not only because they acquired great players but also because they managed to offload surplus players at good prices. This stands in stark contrast to this summer, where the club has only sold one player, and that was an "internal transfer"! The 21-year-old center-back Taylor Fredrickson moved to Lausanne Sport in Switzerland, which is a satellite club of Red Devils owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, with a transfer fee so low that United refused to disclose it.

Of course, thanks to the loan-to-buy agreement for Højlund signed with Napoli last year, Manchester United still received £38 million (€44 million) in revenue this summer. However, the club must acknowledge that this cannot be considered a result of this summer's sales efforts.

Even counting Højlund's transfer fee, other Premier League giants have actually sold many players and received higher transfer fees than Manchester United. According to the British newspaper *The Sun*, this is the price the club is paying for years of poor transfer strategies. United not only paid too much for players but also offered wages that do not match their abilities, turning them into "bad assets" that are unsellable.

The inability to sell players has clearly affected Manchester United's ability to sign new players. Among the top six clubs, only Arsenal has spent less money. So far, United has spent £88 million to sign Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Tainan Thompson. Arsenal is currently pursuing Newcastle United's Bruno Guimarães and Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior; signing either of them would see their transfer fee surpass that of the Red Devils.

Puzzlingly, Manchester City and Chelsea often use satellite clubs for player transactions. For example, Chelsea sends its academy players to Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and Santos, whom United signed for £50 million, followed that path. Ratcliffe also owns Nice in Ligue 1 but has not done so, only managing two or three insignificant transfers with Lausanne Sport.

Since 2022, Andreas Pereira's £10 million move to Fulham, James Garner's £15 million transfer to Everton, Dean Henderson's £20 million move to Crystal Palace, Anthony Elanga's £15 million transfer to Nottingham Forest, and Alejandro Garnacho's £40 million move to Chelsea have been among Manchester United's better academy sales deals.

Manchester United urgently needs to "turn back the clock" 20 years in transfer dealings! In the summer of 2007, Sir Alex Ferguson signed Nani (£17 million), Anderson (£20 million), and Owen Hargreaves (£17 million), while effectively offloading surplus players. Kieran Richardson moved to Sunderland for £5.5 million, Giuseppe Rossi went to Villarreal for £6.7 million, Alan Smith joined Newcastle for £6 million, and Gabriel Heinze moved to Real Madrid for £8 million.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane had a falling out with Ferguson and the club, but when he managed Sunderland, he still signed as many as five players from his old club! After Ferguson's retirement, the only Manchester United players sold for over £25 million are Garnacho, McTominay, Højlund, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, Di María, and Lukaku, among a few others.

This summer, Manchester United wants to sell Ugarte, Zirkzee, and Rashford, but they may all stay. Especially the 28-year-old Rashford, whose weekly salary of £325,000 makes a sale almost impossible.

According to the latest reports, Rashford's brother, who is also his agent, has already been approached by Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahçe, which is prepared to "spare no expense" in an attempt to sign him from Manchester United this summer.

New head coach İsmail Kartal will receive support in the transfer window as they aim to challenge Galatasaray. Rashford is one of three candidates on the list, with the other two being Ismaïla Sarr and Rafael Leão, the latter reportedly having already held talks with Fenerbahçe.

However, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already revealed that Rashford will not go to Turkey. "Rashford will not go to Turkey or Saudi Arabia to play football," Romano said. "Only top European clubs could attract him, otherwise he will stay at Manchester United."
