Manchester United want to agree a five-year contract with Cunha this week! If you want to install, you need to negotiate with Wolves

Talks between Manchester United and Wolves striker Cunha have entered a very advanced stage, with Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that the next meeting between the two sides is already planned this week. The Red Devils do not want to pay their £62.5 million liquidated damages in a lump sum, so the next step is still to open talks with Wolves.

Fabrizio Romano says United are confident of a deal and hope to reach a deal before the summer window opens on 1 June. "For Cunha's transfer, we are entering an important day. As I said, the talks between Manchester United and Cunha are at a very advanced stage." Fabrizio Romano said: "It is important to emphasise that Manchester United truly believe that they can complete the Cunha deal soon. Why? Because they are prepared to pay £62.5 million in liquidated damages, but they still need to make contact with Wolves."

He added: "As I said a week ago, Manchester United's contact with the players is going very well and Cunha is keen on a transfer. Manchester United's project is attractive and salaries are being negotiated. So, let's wait and see, and it is not expected that United's deal with Cunha will be an issue."

SOURCES IN THE BRITISH MEDIA "GIVEMESPORT" CONFIRMED THAT MANCHESTER UNITED WILL NEGOTIATE THE DETAILS OF THE FINANCIAL TERMS WITH CUNHA THIS WEEK, WITH SOME SMALL DETAILS ON THE SALARY STRUCTURE STILL TO BE AGREED AND AN IMPORTANT MEETING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED. According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have offered Cunha a five-year contract until 30 June 2030.

According to reports, the Red Devils initially offered a four-year contract with the option to renew for a fifth year, but negotiations have shifted to signing a five-year deal directly. The benefit of this is that the transfer fee can be "amortised" over a longer period of time, which equates to £12.5 million per financial year and £15.625 million over four years.

Meanwhile, while United are willing to pay Cunha's £62.5 million release in full, they want to spread the money over three to four seasons that will help the club maintain a realistic cash flow. Talks with Wolves will take place once Cunha's signing is confirmed.

As for how long it will take for United to complete the transfer talks for Cunha, Fabrizio Romano predicts a week or two, roughly one week each with the player and Wolves. 'Manchester United need more time, at least one more meeting, to sort out some of the details. My understanding is that United want to reach an agreement as soon as possible, so I don't think Cunha's move is a long process, such as the end of July, August or even the transfer deadline or something. If everything goes according to plan, I think Cunha's transfer will be completed soon."

He concluded: "Negotiations have gone very deep and Manchester United are prepared to pay £62.5 million in instalments, so in this case they are ready to approach Wolves for a solution. But what is certain is that reaching an agreement with the players is the first step and United are definitely moving in the right direction."

After scoring one goal and providing two assists to Wolves' 3-0 win over Leicester City, Cunha did not talk about a move to Manchester United, instead expressing his loyalty to his current club. 'Everyone is very loyal to Wolves and wants to show the fans what we are capable of. We've won six in a row and we've got record points, which we deserve. I always say I'm happy to play for the team and sometimes I get too emotional because I love playing here."

The 25-year-old Brazil international has been the star of the season for Wolves, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists in all competitions. According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Aston Villa and a number of Saudi clubs are also interested in signing Cunha, who could step in if talks between Cunha and the Red Devils slow. The next few days will be decisive as United are confident of reaching a pre-agreement with Cunha soon, making him the first major transfer of the summer transfer window.
