Saudi Arabian professional league giants Riyadh Crescent launched a golden dollar offensive against Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes this week, and it is rumored that he has offered a three-year contract with a salary of £1.25 million a week to invite the 30-year-old Portuguese Iron Man to join. If Fernandes agrees to the transfer, Riyadh Crescent will spend £120 million on the Red Devils. However, it is reported that B Fei was unmoved and rejected the other party's offer.
According to rumours, Fernandes' agent, his brother-in-law Miguel Pinho, rejected Riyadh Crescent's offer but promised to discuss the treatment he wanted with the player, and the Saudi oil financier believes it is still possible to convince Fernandes and Manchester United to change their minds.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has said he understands Riyadh Crescent wants Fernandes but will try to keep the captain of the team, who has scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists this season and is unlikely to be replaced.
'I think it's easy to understand how important he is, not only because of the stats, but also because of the way he plays, how crucial he has been in the last five years. Amorim explained, "He's a top player and Manchester United needs top players. He's also a leader, he's a captain, so it's very important. Rumours are normal and many clubs want players like Bruno, just like Garnacho and everyone else. But we want to keep the best players and Bruno is obviously one of the world's best players, so our mindset hasn't changed and we want him to stay.'
Fernandes staying in the United squad is certainly bad news for England midfielder Mason Mount. According to Football Insider's sources, Ruben Amorim is still counting on Mason Mount to make a difference in his 343 formation, but the 26-year-old former Chelsea player could face even more challenges next season.
Manchester United are trading for £62.5 million to bring in Wolves striker Cunha, with the 25-year-old Brazil international set to be the main choice for the number 10 on the right side of the 343 formation, plus the likes of Fernandes, Amad Diallo and Zirkze, Mason Mount's selection could not be reversed.
Moreover, Cunha may not be the only new No.10 player to be brought in by Amorim in the summer window, with Brentford's Mbeumo also recently revealed a possible £60million transfer. Manchester United's rumours about him are not pure fabrications. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: "As far as I know, Cunha's main target for Manchester United is Cunha. As for Mbeumo, there will be a lot of clubs involved and it will be an open competition."
Mount scored his second goal for the Reds in the 4-3 defeat to Brentford, but his presence was still not strong other than that one. Mount has recently recovered from a long injury spell and has gradually been given some opportunities.
Mount's future at Old Trafford is uncertain and the final weeks of the season are his chance to prove himself to the boss and hierarchy as United focus on the Europa League title and more in the remaining three Premier League games.
Sources say Amorim admires Mason Mount and is hoping the £60 million player Ten Hag has brought in can play a role in his plans for the future.
However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have been relentless in cutting spending at Manchester United and are keen to purge the club of most of the overpaid players, with Mount being one of them.
Mount moves from Chelsea to Manchester United in 2023 for an initial fee of £55 million, with a floating clause likely to increase the total to £60 million. In the Red Devils, Mount enjoys a weekly salary of £250,000 and an annual salary of £13 million. But he has only made 41 appearances for the team in two years, scoring two goals and providing one assist, and his performance is absolutely unsatisfactory.
Wearing United's No.7 shirt, Mount has been plagued by injuries, missing most of the season with two hamstring injuries and a long period of action last season with a calf injury. Given this situation, even if Rajue wanted to sell him this summer, there would be no buyer.
Next season may be Mount's last chance to make a name for himself at Manchester United, but if he still has many injuries and doesn't perform, Amorim can't save him. The Red Devils' contract expires in 2028 and he is now valued at just €28 million.
