David Ornstein, the leading transfer expert at The Athletic, has confirmed that Osimhen will not move to Manchester United this summer. While the Red Devils did take an interest in him and approached him, the 26-year-old Nigerian striker was too demanding and Sir Jim Ratcliffe eventually chose to give up.
United's two centre-forwards have scored just seven goals in the Premier League, while Osimhen has already scored more than 20 league goals this season and is often linked with the Red Devils. However, Osimhen's €75 million liquidated damages, £400,000 weekly wage demand and personality issues ultimately cooled the Reds' interest.
"There have been a lot of reports about Osimhen and I have no doubt that Manchester United and most of the other top clubs appreciate him, but for whatever reason, it seems that because of his salary and his role, these teams have not made progress on his transfer and at the moment I don't think United will sign him," Ornstein said.
The reason why Osimhen was blocked by the teams was simple: he refused to take a pay cut. Last summer, he didn't even agree to lower his demands on a move to Chelsea, where he had dreamed of joining since childhood, and the deal fell through. According to Ornstein, United are shifting their transfer focus to more economically viable attacking options. Cunha and Liam Drap became the top targets, and the combined salary amount of the two was lower than the conditions put forward by Osimhen alone!
Amorim is also reportedly interested in Portuguese sporting favourite Djeecherish, but there is no concrete action yet on the future of the 26-year-old Swedish striker. The most important message from the club's management is clear: ability alone is not enough, and United are now prioritising a balance between financial balance and high-quality signings, with the aim of rebuilding the squad without overspending.
Rajue's control over player wages is also reflected in Casemiro's departure, and while the 33-year-old has been outstanding for Manchester United recently, helping them reach the Europa League final, the club has not been clear about his future. That's because of the income of the Brazilian superstar. The British "Daily Mirror" said that once he returns to the Champions League, Casemiro's salary will not only recover to the original 350,000 pounds, but also increase by 25% to nearly 500,000 pounds!
Whether this rumor is true or not is unknown, however, even at £350,000 would be too high for Rajue. The 72-year-old former richest man in England is looking for ways to save money for the club, and purging high-paid players is an important part of that, after all, the layoffs of hundreds of people will only save enough money to pay these players for a few weeks.
Rajue is also looking to "scratch the lottery" in the transfer market, and Juan Hernandez Torres, a demon in Barcela's youth system, is said to have been targeted by Manchester United. According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are willing to bring in the Spanish midfielder for a £5 million (€6 million) liquidated damages.
Torres, who turns 18 in July and is eligible for a move to the Premier League, was instrumental in Barca's Under-19 triumph in the UEFA Youth League, scoring two goals in 10 games this season, including the semi-final winner against AZ Alkmaar. His contract expires in 2026, however, the amount of liquidated damages does not pose an obstacle for interested Manchester United and Chelsea.
Manchester United and Chelsea's operating model in recent years is similar, that is, while burning money to buy people, while netting young youth players. Two Premier League giants are also interested in Championship Blackburn Rovers young striker Igor Tyjon, a 17-year-old centre-forward with dual citizenship of England and Poland who has made his senior debut.
