Manchester United 0-1 Chelsea Premier League 8 rounds winless! The two missed the opportunity to make a name for themselves and may not be able to start in the Europa League

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, suffering an eight-game winless run in the Premier League (two draws, six defeats) and the last three defeats in a row. The last time Ruben Amorim's side won the league was against Leicester City, a relegated side Ruud van Nistelrooy, on 17 March. However, thanks to Tottenham's 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the early opening game, the Red Devils remain 16th in the Premier League.

Amorim had almost all of his main players on the pitch, with the exception of Ugarte at the back. The 40-year-old Portuguese coach explained that with five days to go until the Europa League final, training is the best way to prepare for the game. 'We have five days to prepare for the final, so I'm following the game and think sometimes the best preparation is to play and compete in the Premier League.

The Red Devils boss said he was not worried about injuries to his players, as even training could cause injuries. "The biggest problem we had this season was training, for example, Amad [Diallo], who got injured while practicing a simple move. Kobe Bryant (Meno) was also seriously injured in training, so you can't predict where the danger is. After this game, we have plenty of time to recover. But the team needs to be ready to play and today I pulled them out for practice."

Both Manchester United and Chelsea threatened with crosses from the opening stages. Bruno Fernandes' cross from the right was deflected away by Reece James and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. A minute later, the Blues returned the colour when James also crossed from the right and Madueke kicked away with a left-footed kick at the back post.

In the 18th minute, Maguire scored after receiving a pass from the left of Fernandes, but the VAR video assistant referee intervened and ruled that his knee and toe were offside, and the goal was disallowed. Ironically, it was the only time United had a shot on target in the entire first half, but it was disallowed.

Chelsea's home side weren't lucky, too, as James fired a brilliant volley from outside the box that bounced off the outside of the post. The rest of the first half came into Hojlund's "show time", but unfortunately his eye-catching play had nothing to do with the goal. The stats show that in the last 15 games, Mr. £73 million has scored just three goals.

Hojlund was first hit by Enzo Fernandez's shot in the arm, but referee Chris Cavanagh didn't award a penalty for the distance he deemed too close to be a "ball hitter".

In stoppage time, the 22-year-old Danish centre-forward took off his opponent's shirt as he defended Colwill in the box.

At the start of the second half, the referee found that Hojlund had been wearing a smart watch and ordered him to take it off on the sidelines.

United had two good chances early in the second half, both of which came from an inverted triangle pass from Ahmad on the right, however, Mason Mount and Fernandes couldn't get on target.

Chelsea youngster Trick George then found contact with Onana and went to the ground, with the referee pointing to the 12-yard spot but VAR intervention confirmed the United goalkeeper had touched the ball first and the penalty was cancelled.

Five minutes later, Caicedo stretched his foot and immediately retracted his foot, and Ahmad collapsed in the Chelsea penalty area, and the referee ruled that he had faked a fall and showed him a yellow card.

In the 72nd minute, Chelsea exploited the gap between the defenders in the defensive system of Manchester United's three-centre-back system. James squeezed off substitute Garnacho in front of the box and sent in a cross that Cucurella nodded over the top of the ball past Andre Onana. The Blues played wing-back and United were 1-0 down.

Soon, Chelsea repeated a similar attacking routine, but this time Madueke kicked the ball away again and United escaped.

Ahmad's low shot at the near post was saved by Sanchez and it was United's only shot on target of the game! In the end, the Red Devils were unable to salvage the defeat and lost 1-0 to the Bridge. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Jadon Sancho watched from the stands as they witnessed the Reds' 18th league defeat of the season.

Another record was broken: United went eight league games without a win for the first time since January 1990, a figure that could extend the ......-12 goal difference against Villa in the final round and a clean sheet in their 15th league game. With such a record, even if you win the Europa League final and enter the Champions League, it is absolutely unreasonable.

The United fans on the sidelines remained positive, but they couldn't cheer for the performance of the players on the pitch and had to chant "Long live John Terry". It is well known that John Terry missed a penalty kick in the 2008 Champions League final that would have won the trophy for the Red Devils.

Now, with all of United's hopes pinned on next Wednesday's Europa League final, there may not be much suspense in Amorim's starting line-up. Most of the main players of this game will be in Bilbao. The only exception is probably Mason Mount. At the San Mamés Stadium, Ugarte could replace him in midfield alongside Casemiro, while captain B Fee will return to the number 10 position.

Mason Mount and Garnacho, who came off the bench, may have squandered the last chance to make a name for themselves. Mason Mount failed to capitalise on the goal, while Garnacho was denied straight past James and both Fernandes and Harry Maguire were unhappy after Chelsea's winner.

The only consolation for Amorim is that no United players have been injured in the red and blue clashes, although Fernandes, Ahmad, Mount and Harry Maguire have all been suspected of falling to the ground and injured in the game, but fortunately none of them have been harmed.

Amorim said: "I feel like all the players are safe and they can go to the final. Every match will help me choose the starting XI for the final, so everyone will wait and see. Nobody's hurt today and we have to take care of Luke [Shaw] and Mason [Mount] and the rest of the players are fine.'
