Amorim revealed that he had never consulted Mu Shuai and did not pursue a comparable teacher! Explain what the Europa League means to Manchester United

If United can beat Tottenham in the Europa League final, manager Ruben Amorim will rival one of the achievements of his teacher Jose Mourinho's first season in charge of the Red Devils: winning European competitions and qualifying for the Champions League. In late April 2018, the newly retired Amorim had interned at Carrington as a graduate student at the University of Lisbon, where Mourinho was his lecturer.

Even before the start of the internship, Amorim had expressed his admiration for the coach. In November 2017, he told Portugal's Express newspaper: "I like Manchester United because Jose Mourinho is my role model. There are some coaches that I admire the way they coach, like Pep Guardiola. But for me, my role model is Mourinho because my philosophy is closer to Mr. Mou. He analyses his opponents well and adapts his lineup to their characteristics, and he doesn't just use a specific style of play, but thinks hard about how to adapt to the game and win. I'm kind of like him."

Amorim has given up on Manchester United's Premier League campaign to focus on the Europa League title, just like Jose Mourinho did in 2016/17. However, the Red Devils were sixth at the time and 16th now, and the results are even worse. At that time, the Portuguese "madman" publicly said: "I would rather win the Europa League than finish in the top four of the Premier League, this is a European championship and can also provide Champions League qualification, I think it is better."

After winning the title in Stockholm, Sweden, Jose Mourinho raised three fingers to show that he had led his team to three titles that year. Interestingly, both teams in this Europa League final are Mourinho's old clubs. On whether he could repeat Mourinho's achievements, Amorim said: "I haven't talked to him. But I would like to reiterate that it's very important to win something to give back to the fans. It doesn't matter if I'm like Jose Mourinho or any other manager, what matters is how this title can help us get back to the top as soon as possible."

Amorim is reportedly concerned about United's current situation, and in fact he was disheartened and considered resigning in January. Multiple sources told ESPN that Amorim was so disappointed with United's win of just one of their eight games in January that he was "visibly graying".

Amorim was ready to resign in a fit of rage, but was discouraged by his colleagues on the coaching staff. In the end, Manchester United CEO Omar Berada came forward and promised to support the manager's summer purchase and rebuilding regardless of the final outcome of the season, and he chose to remain in charge.

Ahead of the Europa League final, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS management team pushed ahead with the transfers of Cunha and Liam Delap, with the 25-year-old Brazilian striker almost certain to join, while the 22-year-old England centre-forward was in face-to-face talks with Manchester United. This is also to reassure Amorim before the big war, and the top brass has shown their support for him with practical actions.

However, Amorim is not 100 per cent satisfied with the actions of Manchester United's management. Premier League transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that there are still divisions within Manchester United over plans for a new centre-forward, with Destrap Jr. being the top target for the football department, especially with Manchester City's technical director Jason Wilcox convinced that the Ipswich forward is the best option for the club's long-term development. It is known that Delap came through Manchester City's academy at the time when Wilcox was the academy director for the Blue Moon.

However, Amorim and his coaching staff believe that for a team in desperate need of a revival, it would be better to opt for a ready-made number 9 striker.

They also have a chance to fight for their goals on their own, with a Europa League win and Champions League next season that would see the club earn at least £85 million, while Amorim's transfer budget could be raised to £200 million, and he could be looking to bring in a better scorer.
