Botafogo announced on Tuesday that they have chosen Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil's head coach Carlo Ancelotti, as their new manager.
The 35-year-old Ancelotti, who worked as an assistant to his father at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and most recently Real Madrid, has entered into a one-year contract with Botafogo. Ancelotti departed from Real at the conclusion of last season alongside his father.
Botafogo dismissed manager Renato Paiva last week after their exit from the Club World Cup, even though Paiva had led the team to a victory over Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the tournament.
Paiva's squad was eliminated in the last-16 round after a 1-0 defeat in extra time to fellow Brazilian team Palmeiras, and the manager, who had been in the position for four months, was surprised by the club's choice.
