Onana is looking to make an early comeback! The dream of Martin joining Manchester United may be shattered, and rumors about the buyout fee are questionable.

Manchester United received news this week that is uncertain whether it is good or bad. The British newspaper "Daily Mirror" reports that the previously injured first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, is expected to return ahead of schedule. British media suggests he might be ready for the Premier League opener against Arsenal in mid-August, or even return for the preseason match against Everton.

The 29-year-old Onana was injured last week, initially suspected of a torn hamstring, which could sideline him for 6 to 8 weeks. However, later examinations reportedly confirmed that his hamstring was only strained, not torn, making his injury much less severe than initially thought. Typically, a mild hamstring strain can heal in just one to two weeks. It is said that with the help of the medical staff and fitness team, Onana's recovery is progressing well.

Currently, Onana will definitely miss the first warm-up match against Leeds United in Sweden this Saturday, but he will travel with the team to the United States next week. Ruben Amorim's squad will face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in North America. While Onana will not be able to participate in the first two matches in New York and Chicago, he is expected to return to the pitch for the game against Everton in Atlanta.

According to the schedule, the match between Manchester United and Everton will take place on August 4, after which the team will return to Old Trafford for the final summer warm-up match against Fiorentina, where Onana's predecessor, De Gea, now plays. The Premier League opener against Arsenal is set for August 17.

If Onana's injury is not serious, the dream of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joining Manchester United may be completely dashed. Argentine media reports that the 32-year-old legendary keeper is fully prepared and hopes to transfer from Aston Villa to Manchester United. However, if Onana stays and his injury is not an issue, Martin's dream of joining the Red Devils cannot be realized.

According to previous reports from the Argentine newspaper "Horn", Martin's contract includes a £21.6 million buyout clause, while Manchester United is willing to offer a bit more in exchange for paying the transfer fee in installments rather than a lump sum for the buyout amount.

However, "La Nación" has a different perspective, agreeing with British media that Martin's new contract does not have a buyout clause. This contract was signed in August 2024 and runs until 2029. Villa has set a price of £40 million for him, while Manchester United is only willing to pay a maximum of £33 million.

"La Nación" also added that Manchester United had previously attempted to sign Martin two years ago, but then-manager Ten Hag insisted on signing his favored player Onana from Inter Milan for €50 million. Manchester United believed the Dutchman's claim that Onana was a "revolutionary goalkeeper," and the outcome is well known.

Onana has made frequent mistakes at Manchester United over the past two years and was rumored to possibly leave this summer. However, there has been no substantial action from either the Saudi Arabian Professional League or Ligue 1's Monaco, making it highly likely he will stay at Manchester United this transfer window. British media asserts that as long as Onana does not leave, the possibility of Martin joining Manchester United is nonexistent, not just due to positional issues but also because of transfer fees and wage expenditures.

This summer, Manchester United has not only faced slow progress in signings but also delays in player sales, with no players sold so far. The main players leaving the club are either out of contract or on loan. This Thursday, the club announced that Dan Gore will join League One side Rotherham for the 2025/26 season. Gore had joined that team last season, but due to injury, his loan was ended early, and this midfielder is now returning to New York Stadium for the second time.
