Real Madrid's lottery-style signing failed; they spent €30 million on Reinier, whose current market value is only €1.5 million.

It is often said that Messi and Ronaldo are hard to replicate, and even Vinícius and Rodrygo are difficult to emulate. In recent years, Real Madrid has preferred the lottery approach to signings, directly acquiring talented youngsters from South America while avoiding middlemen to maximize profits. Vinícius and Rodrygo have achieved unprecedented success, leading the club to become addicted to this strategy. However, when they signed another Brazilian talent, the outcome was a complete failure, with his market value plummeting to one-twentieth of the transfer fee.

According to the latest news from Spanish media outlet AS, Real Madrid is actively seeking a new club for Brazilian forward Reinier, who has only one year left on his contract. If there are no offers, it is highly likely that Real Madrid will terminate Reinier's contract a year early, paying the remaining buyout clause.

Reinier came through Flamengo's youth academy and joined the European giants Real Madrid in January 2020 for a transfer fee of €30 million. At that time, the 18-year-old's market value was as high as €25 million. Real Madrid initially planned to have Reinier play some matches with the Castilla team, similar to the successful paths of Vinícius and Rodrygo. However, the pandemic disrupted these plans, leading to a five-year loan journey where he failed to succeed at Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga), Girona (La Liga), Frosinone (Serie A), and Granada (Segunda Division), often not even making the starting lineup, resulting in the talented player becoming a mere average performer. Given this situation, Reinier is unlikely to fit into Alonso's plans, and Real Madrid has no choice but to sell him. With Reinier's current form, it is nearly impossible to sell him, leaving termination of the contract as the only option.

At 23 years old, Reinier stands 1.85 meters tall and is a right-footed player who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also function as a winger. His contract with Real Madrid runs until 2026, and according to Transfermarkt, he is valued at €1.5 million, which is only one-twentieth of his transfer fee. Real Madrid has lost a significant amount on this investment! Last season, Reinier made 25 appearances for Granada across all competitions, starting 15 times, totaling 1,401 minutes on the field, contributing 1 goal and 4 assists.
