Manchester United's plan to sign Emiliano Martinez! The club hopes to save money by exchanging players with Aston Villa, with Garnacho being the key figure.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that following the acquisition of Mbeumo, Manchester United intends to sign a new center forward and a new goalkeeper. The striker is the primary target, and it would be preferable if the goalkeeper does not involve significant spending, due to the club owner's request for budget constraints.

Manchester United strikers Hojlund and Zirkzee have not been scoring, so Amorin hopes to have a forward who can act as a pivot and find the back of the net. Furthermore, Romano reported that the Red Devils plan to allocate more funds for a new number 9, hence they are reluctant to spend excessively on a new goalkeeper.

Aston Villa's 32-year-old Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is the preferred choice for Amorin. The player has already expressed his willingness to play for Manchester United, having bid farewell to Villa Park fans at the end of last season. However, Martinez only renewed his contract with Villa until 2029 last year, and the club has set his price at £40 million.

Romano stated, "Regarding Martinez, Manchester United's idea is to discuss a player swap deal with Villa. Tan does not want to spend money on a new goalkeeper, as funds are needed to bring in better forwards. Currently, the two clubs have not yet begun negotiations, and Manchester United has not even contacted Villa, as this transfer is not straightforward."

Martinez is keen to join Manchester United, but the club's finances are insufficient to secure him. Romano added, "Manchester United is aware of Martinez's desire to join, but it depends on what the club wants to do and what their finances can support. After spending nearly £150 million on signing Cunha and Mbeumo, selling players is crucial for Manchester United to continue enhancing their squad."

The only player in Manchester United's squad who could potentially be exchanged with Villa is Garnacho, a teammate of Martinez on the Argentine national team. The 21-year-old Garnacho has had a fallout with coach Amorin and recently wore Villa's number 9 shirt this summer. The Argentine winger also hopes to remain in the Premier League, making Villa a viable option.

Manchester United's 29-year-old starting goalkeeper Andre Onana was injured in the first week of training and was initially thought to be out for eight weeks, but recent updates suggest he may recover by early next month. Consequently, Amorin and the club need to determine whether to sign a new number 1 goalkeeper this summer or just a backup keeper.

Also, the 29-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor has been rumored to potentially join Manchester United, with a low release clause of £6 million in his contract with Botafogo. Additionally, 23-year-old Senne Lammens from Belgian club Antwerp has also been linked to the Red Devils, but his price tag is higher, around £20 million.

Antwerp has signed mixed-race goalkeeper Taishi Brandon from Tokyo FC, thus they are willing to sell Lammens. Sporting director Overmars stated, "Many clubs are preparing to take action to secure Senne (Lammens). He is in high demand. Plus, that money needs to be transferred because we have already found him a replacement."

Romano concluded, "We must wait for Manchester United to decide how to handle the goalkeeper situation, whether to bring in a newcomer, opt for a young goalkeeper, or if they want to sign an experienced one. It is certain that Martinez has always hoped Manchester United would call him, and he is willing to join."
