Manchester United is likely to enter a busy transfer period in the coming weeks, following their £71 million acquisition of Mbeumo. The focus will shift to signing a striker, goalkeeper, and midfielder. Reports suggest that the Red Devils have personally agreed with Javier Guerra Moreno, the new Rodrigo from La Liga club Valencia.
After the departure of veteran Eriksen at 33, Amorim needs a new central midfielder. The 22-year-old Spanish international Guerra has been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, having been associated with a transfer to the Red Devils two years ago. It is reported that he has agreed to join. Danny Longo from Italian outlet "Calciomercato" claims that United has reached a verbal agreement with the player's agent, but negotiations with Valencia are still ongoing.
However, it must be emphasized that Valencia is currently in talks with Guerra about a contract extension, and both sides are at an impasse. The rumors about a move to Manchester United might not only indicate his desire to transfer but could also be a tactic to "raise the price," forcing the Bat Club to offer better terms.
Spanish media reports that Valencia has proposed a new contract extending to 2029, significantly increasing Guerra's salary. The player has stated that he needs some time to consider, and he might prefer to stay at the Mestalla.
Seeking a pay rise by approaching Manchester United has become a common strategy among European players. On the other hand, the rumors with the Red Devils will also attract bids from other clubs. AC Milan and Manchester City have long been rumored to be interested in Guerra. Milan reportedly had intentions to sign him this summer but could not meet the £26 million transfer fee.
Italian media claims that Guerra can be acquired this summer for just £21 million; however, Valencia's sporting director, Miguel Ángel Corona, warned interested clubs not to expect a bargain. "We are fully aware that we have a player with immense potential. Guerra's future is promising, and he has the ability to perform at a high level from a young age," he said. "We do not intend to sell him to any other club."
Guerra came through Valencia's youth system, making 89 appearances for the first team, scoring 8 goals, and providing 4 assists. He is often compared to Xavi Alonso and Rodri. Of course, these comparisons should be taken with caution, and given that he hasn't attracted interest from "La Liga" giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid, it is almost certain that Guerra won't reach similar heights, but playing for Manchester United should be more than sufficient.
Guerra is currently one of the best players at Valencia. The "Bat King" possesses great football intelligence and excellent spatial awareness, capable of playing multiple positions, including as a defensive midfielder. He can also operate as an attacking midfielder, providing significant tactical flexibility for Amorim.
Of course, Manchester United is also rumored to be interested in several other midfielders. The recruitment for this position may not proceed quickly, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS management team needs to sell players first. The income from player sales will determine which new signings they can afford.
In addition to Guerra, Brazilian player Gabriel Sara from Turkish champions Galatasaray is also under consideration. Spanish outlet "AS" reports that the 26-year-old midfielder requires a transfer fee of €30 million (£26 million), with a contract until 2029.
Sara previously played in the Premier League for Norwich and made 45 appearances for Galatasaray last season, scoring 2 goals and providing 10 assists.
