The Premier League champions have shifted their attention to Ekitike after Newcastlerefused to sell Sweden striker Alexander Isak, who is valued at approximately £150 million by the Magpies.
Newcastle and Manchester United also showed interest in Ekitike, but Liverpool appears set to secure the signing of one of Europe's most promising young talents.
It is believed that the Reds have agreed to pay an additional £10 million in potential add-ons to sign the 23-year-old French forward, bringing the total cost to £79 million.
Once the transfer is finalized, Ekitike will join Arne Slot's squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.
Ekitike netted 22 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions for Frankfurt last season after moving to the Bundesliga side from Paris Saint-Germain.
He was an unused substitute in his team's pre-season friendly against FSV Frankfurt on Saturday, with Eintracht manager Dino Toppmoller acknowledging that Ekitike's upcoming exit is "a significant loss."
The Reds are also reportedly open to selling Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez, while Colombia forward Luis Diaz has been the subject of a rejected offer from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool has already invested £116 million in Germany playmaker Florian Wirtz, in addition to signing defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez from Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth respectively.
Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has also joined Arne Slot's team since the conclusion of last season after finalizing his transfer from Valencia in 2024.
