18 years old Yohannes made her professional debut for Ajax, the club she joined at age 13, in 2023 when she was merely 16.
This summer, Yohannes completed a €450,000 transfer to the French heavyweights OL Lyonnes, marking a record fee for a player from the Dutch Eredivisie. Speaking to Flashscore's Anna Carreau at the Adidas presentation of the final ball for the 2025 Women's EUROs, the young midfielder expressed that joining the record 18-time champions fills her with pride.
"Being part of OL Lyonnes means a lot to me. It truly is an amazing club," Yohannes stated. "I'm eager to start playing with all the players and meet the fantastic staff. I want to begin working right away.
"When I learned about Lyon's project, I was really keen to join the club. It's a massive club with a rich history, and I fell in love with everything about it. I've been a fan of Lyon since I was a little girl."
The entire European elite were reportedly pursuing Yohannes, but it was USWNT colleague Lindsey Heaps who ultimately persuaded the young talent to relocate to Southeast France.
"I had a conversation with Lindsey Heaps, and she had nothing but positive remarks about the club. Overall, I've heard so many encouraging things about the club that I'm genuinely thrilled to be joining OL Lyonnes. The team is filled with world-class players, and I can't wait to collaborate with all these seasoned athletes."

Yohannes, who netted 11 goals and provided seven assists in 39 Eredivisie matches for Ajax, mentioned that she hasn't yet spoken to OL Lyonnes coach Jonatan Gilardez, but will meet him soon:"He's an outstanding coach who's accomplished so much in women's football that I look forward to working with him."
The American talented midfielder is taking her time at her new club, but has significant ambitions ahead. "My goal is to integrate, adapt, and hopefully help the team keep winning titles," Yohannes remarked.
Yohannes is already adjusting well, however, and demonstrated her French language skills when asked if she had learned some already: "Yes! Allez Lyon!"
