Italian forward Mateo Retegui has signed with Saudi Pro League team Al Qadsiah from Atalanta, both clubs announced on Monday, with reports from Italian media indicating that last season's top Serie A scorer has agreed to a four-year deal.

No financial specifics were disclosed, but Italian sources mentioned that the transfer fee is around 65 million euros, which would make Retegui the most expensive player from Italy.

Retegui played only one season at Atalanta, having signed from Genoa as a substitute for the injured Gianluca Scamacca, and he netted 25 league goals to assist the club in achieving a third-place finish.

"The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family, and the entire Nerazzurri club sincerely appreciate Mateo for his remarkable contribution last season and wish him all the best in his future career," the club stated in a press release.

The Argentine-born Retegui became eligible to represent Italy through his grandparents and was selected by Roberto Mancini in 2023, scoring during his debut in a 2-1 loss to England. The 26-year-old has accumulated six international goals in 20 matches.

Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed the Saudi club on Thursday, having netted 21 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions during his single season at Al Qadsiah.
