Isak did not accompany Newcastle on their pre-season tour of Asia, reportedly due to a minor thigh injury, but Howe stated that the 25-year-old Swedish striker is a crucial component of his plans.
"Naturally, there will always be matters happening behind the scenes," Howe informed reporters in Singapore, where Newcastle faces Arsenal on Sunday.
"He knows he's in the headlines daily, which I can imagine is challenging for anyone in that position.
"Discussions between Alex and the club or with me will remain confidential for obvious reasons. We maintain a good relationship," Howe added.
Isak, who netted 23 Premier League goals last season, has been "outstanding for us during his time here," Howe stated. "And he feels very at home in the locker room."
Isak did not join the Magpies after the thigh injury sidelined him from Newcastle's friendly loss to Celtic last week.
"He indicated prior to the Celtic match that it was very minor and nothing too serious," Howe remarked.
"However, he left training quite early and didn't feel quite right. So, he's currently back in Newcastle having that injury evaluated."
Howe remains confident that Isak will don the black and white when the new season begins next month.
"I mentioned after the match against Celtic that I was assured he would stay. I don't foresee anything that would alter my perspective on that right now.
"It's football," he continued. "And who can predict what the future holds."
The Magpies ended their 70-year trophy drought by clinching the Carabao Cup and finished fifth in the Premier League last season, securing a spot in the Champions League.
"Once you've tasted victory, you crave it again. Therefore, we aim to achieve it once more as soon as possible, in all competitions we're participating in," Howe stated.
"We've set a high standard, and there's a lot of ambition within the squad."
