According to L'Équipe, the Manchester rivals are competing for the Champions League goalkeeper Donnarumma, whose contract renewal with Paris has been stalled for several months.

The latest news from the French media L'Équipe reveals that the Manchester rivals are competing for the Champions League goalkeeper Donnarumma, whose contract renewal talks with Paris have been on hold for months.

L'Équipe reports that Manchester United aims to acquire a new goalkeeper to replace the unstable Onana; on the other hand, Manchester City also needs a new goalkeeper, as Ederson's performance has severely dropped, coupled with his intention to play in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Paris has reached a preliminary agreement with Lille's 23-year-old goalkeeper Chevalier for a 5-year contract and plans to negotiate the transfer fee, which will exceed €40 million, while the player's market value stands at €30 million. The contract renewal discussions between Donnarumma and Paris have been stalled for months, with the player's contract running until 2026. This summer transfer window marks the last opportunity for Paris to sell Donnarumma; otherwise, next summer, they may face losing him for free. Donnarumma is also considering leaving and has already been in contact with Manchester United and Manchester City in early June. Paris hopes to finalize Chevalier's deal before discussing Donnarumma's contract renewal or transfer.

Donnarumma joined Paris on a free transfer from AC Milan in the summer of 2021 and has made a total of 161 appearances for Paris across all competitions, achieving 56 clean sheets and conceding 156 goals, averaging 0.96 goals conceded per game.

The 26-year-old Donnarumma stands 1.96 meters tall and is a right-footed goalkeeper, with a market value of €40 million. Last season, he played 40 matches across all competitions, recording 12 clean sheets and conceding 39 goals, averaging 0.97 goals conceded per game, helping his team secure a treble (Champions League + Ligue 1 + Coupe de France). He made 7 appearances in the 2025 Club World Cup, achieving 5 clean sheets and finishing as the runner-up.
