Following one season atBayern Munich where he made 25 official appearances, Palhinha is making his return to England, where he performed exceptionally well during his two seasons with Fulham.
The Portuguese international midfielder has joined Tottenham on an initial loan deal, with the London club having an option to purchase at the end of the season.
Palhinha began his career at Sacavenense before moving toSporting as a youth player in 2012. He debuted for the B team at 18 years old, before making his first-team debut in January 2017.
In his early years, he also gained experience on loan at Moreirense, Belenenses, and SC Braga. At the latter, he played a crucial role in winning the 2019/20 League Cup under Ruben Amorim's management.
Returning to Sporting in 2020, he contributed to their victory in the 2020/21 league title – the club's first championship in 19 years – and was included in the Team of the Year. During his tenure at Sporting, Palhinha also helped the club secure two League Cups and the Super Cup.
In 2022, Palhinha moved to the Premier League, signing with Fulham. He rapidly established himself as one of the league's most formidable defensive midfielders and was named Fulham's Player of the Season after his inaugural campaign. Over two seasons at Craven Cottage, he made 79 appearances for the West London club, netting eight goals and achieving more tackles than any other player in the Premier League.
His consistent, high-caliber performances for Fulham led to a transfer to Bayern Munich in July 2024, where he was part of the squad that won the Bundesliga title last season.
On the international stage, he made his debut for Portugal's senior national team in 2021 and has since accumulated 34 international caps, participating in the 2020 and 2024 European Championships, as well as the 2022 World Cup. He was also a member of the Portuguese team that clinched the Nations League in June.
