Former England international Greenwood is close to being naturalized by Jamaica, having tied for the most goals in Ligue 1 last season.

Not only has Manchester United lost a talented striker, but England has also lost a superb forward who can shoot with both feet. According to the latest news from BBC UK, Greenwood has obtained a Jamaican passport and is expected to represent the Jamaican national team in the World Cup qualifiers as early as next month.

Greenwood is a former England international who made his debut for the national team in September 2020 against the virus, and since then, he has not played for the Three Lions again.

According to FIFA's latest rules,if a player has made no more than three appearances for their original national team before the age of 21 and their last appearance was at least three years ago, they can apply to change their national team eligibility.

Greenwood has only played one match for England, nearly five years ago, when he was18 years and 183 days old. Thus, Greenwood's application to change his national team eligibility fully complies with FIFA's latest regulations.

It is reported that naturalizing Greenwood is a key plan for the Jamaican Football Association, and it is nearing success. If all goes well, the top scorer in Ligue 1 last season, 23-year-old Greenwood, will represent Jamaica in next month's World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago.

Note: Greenwood transferred to Ligue 1 and joined Marseille last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 5 assists in 34 league matches. He scored the same number of goals as Ligue 1's top scorer, Dembélé, but finished as the league's second top scorer due to a higher number of penalty goals.
