FC Twente has stated that midfielder Michel Vlap is leaving to join Qatari club Al Ahli immediately.
Vlap has agreed to a three-year deal with Al Ahli, where he will team up with Julian Draxler and former Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo. Al Ahli is reported to have paid €2 million for the 28-year-old Vlap.
In a statement, Al Ahli, who finished fourth in the last Qatari Super League season, mentioned that signing Vlap was "in line with a technical strategy reflecting the team's offensive requirements."
Vlap, who was previously rumored to be moving to Russian club Spartak Moscow earlier this summer, joined FC Twente in 2022 from Belgian club RSC Anderlecht. The attacking midfielder made a total of 162 appearances for FC Twente, scoring 20 goals.
