The Myanmar women's national team and the Australia U23 squad will face off again in an intense battle to decide the winner of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
After advancing through the group stage and semifinals, the Myanmar women's team and Australia's U23 squad have proven themselves the top contenders for the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup final. Interestingly, these two teams already faced each other in the tournament opener and now meet again in the decisive match.
Heading into the final, Myanmar's women's team has impressed with an unbeaten streak of four matches (three wins, one draw). They have emerged as the surprise package of this year's tournament, defeating major teams like Australia and Thailand, as well as drawing with and directly eliminating the defending champions, the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Australian women's team has slightly less impressive stats. They have won three matches but suffered their only loss against their final opponent. Nonetheless, this defeat serves as extra motivation for the Matildas to seek redemption.
Although Australia lost their opening match, their U23 squad is still considered stronger than Myanmar's. They boast a roster with many physically strong players, unafraid of challenges and often prevailing in one-on-one duels.
Facing their previous conqueror again, Myanmar now faces an even tougher challenge. The Australia U23 team has significantly improved after matches against the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. However, based on their consistent performances throughout the tournament, Myanmar's women's team is still capable of creating a miracle.
