Cahill: Djokovic is successful even without 25 Grand Slam titles; Legend: Bublik deserved to be taught a lesson by Sinner for his tricks

Sinner’s coach Cahill recently spoke up for Djokovic on a program, bluntly stating that Djokovic no longer needs a 25th Grand Slam title to prove his greatness. Meanwhile, Italian legend Panatta harshly criticized Kazakhstan’s Bublik for his US Open performance, accusing him of “often using underhand serves to play tricks.”

In a recent tennis interview show, Serena Williams’ former coach Stabbs discussed Djokovic with renowned coach Cahill, asking, “Don’t you think Djokovic still hasn’t reached 25 Grand Slam titles?”

However, Cahill responded without hesitation, “For him, 25 titles would just be icing on the cake. Honestly, he doesn’t need it. Whether he achieves 25 or not, his career is already great.” This answer left Stabbs speechless immediately.

Cahill further explained his viewpoint: “You must understand, Djokovic’s career is already near perfect. With 24 Grand Slam titles, the record for most weeks at No. 1, a Career Grand Slam in all three categories, plus a Golden Slam and a Golden Masters, these achievements are unprecedented.”

Cahill’s remarks sparked widespread discussion on social media. Some fans agreed, saying, “Indeed, Djokovic doesn’t need a 25th title to prove anything. His legendary status is already set; he truly is the GOAT!”

Others held different opinions: “In competitive sports, there’s no such thing as ‘enough.’ Great players always crave more, and the 25th title will be Djokovic’s ultimate record-breaking chapter.”

Former Grand Slam champion Corretja stated, “Cahill is right, Djokovic has already built an immortal legacy, but the 25th title would be the perfect finale to his career.”

Currently, Djokovic himself has not responded to Stabbs’ comments, as he is fully focused on preparing for his US Open semifinal against Alcaraz.

Meanwhile, Italian legend Panatta recently issued sharp criticism of Kazakhstan’s Bublik’s performance.

“Bublik thinks he’s funny. Ha, he has no right to laugh because he got thoroughly taught a lesson,” Panatta said while commenting on the US Open match. “Sinner completely dominated him.” Panatta specifically pointed out Bublik’s playing habit: “Sinner gave a solid lesson to the guy who always uses underhand serves as a trick on second serve.”

The underhand serve has long been controversial in professional tennis. Supporters see it as a tactical choice, while opponents view it as disrespectful to opponents. Panatta clearly expressed his stance in his commentary: “This was a one-sided match; the Kazakh player had no chance. I saw Sinner’s incredible focus; this wasn’t really a contest.”

“This shows you the huge difference between the best-of-three format on grass at Halle and the best-of-five format on Arthur Ashe Stadium at the US Open,” Panatta added.

Regarding the controversy over underhand serves, tennis tactics analyst Brad Gilbert commented, “Underhand serves are allowed by the rules but should be used carefully. Frequent use might be seen as disrespectful.”

This US Open, Bublik has been embroiled in controversy for his on- and off-court behavior. First, he was caught playing passively in doubles and was scolded by his partner via video. Then he claimed doubles can’t be compared to singles and that he only plays doubles for warm-up. Later, he called Sinner “AI” after matches. With these antics, he truly acted like a drama king. In response to the Italian legend’s criticism, Bublik should reflect. A “playful life” attitude might bring personal fun but not everyone understands that professional tennis requires not only personality but also respect.
