Jannik Sinner is on the verge of a historic milestone in his career, soon to be ranked alongside Djokovic and Federer.

Since rising to the top of tennis in early 2024, Jannik Sinner has achieved many historic milestones and can definitely add more at this year’s US Open.

Jannik Sinner stands on the brink of a new historic achievement at the 2025 US Open.

The Italian player has reached four consecutive Grand Slam singles finals and is now one of only 11 male players in the Open Era (since 1968) to have contested the finals of all four Grand Slams. Notably, only Jim Courier managed this at a younger age than Sinner.

The 2024 season has seen Sinner perform impressively in major tournaments: he defeated Alexander Zverev to capture the Australian Open, overcame Carlos Alcaraz to win Wimbledon, and previously lost to Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final. Now, Sinner is just one win away from reaching the US Open final.

If he beats Felix Auger-Aliassime in the 2025 US Open semifinal, Sinner will become the fourth player in the Open Era to reach all four Grand Slam finals in a single season — joining the ranks of legendary greats.

Since rising to the top of tennis in early 2024, Jannik Sinner has achieved many historic milestones and can definitely add more at this year’s US Open.

Rod Laver – 1969

One of the most influential players in modern tennis history, Laver remains the only man in the Open Era to complete a Calendar Grand Slam (winning all four majors in a single year). He had also accomplished this as an amateur in 1962. In 1969, the Australian legend started by winning the Australian Open against Andres Gimeno, then consecutively defeated fellow Australian Ken Rosewall at Roland Garros, John Newcombe at Wimbledon, and Tony Roche at the US Open to complete his extraordinary achievement.

Roger Federer – 2006, 2007, 2009

After Laver, it took 37 years for another player to achieve the same feat, and that was Roger Federer — a tennis icon. Federer reached this milestone three times within four seasons.

In 2006, he won the Australian Open by defeating Marcos Baghdatis, claimed Wimbledon against Rafael Nadal, and triumphed over Andy Roddick at the US Open, only losing to Nadal in the Roland Garros final.

In 2007, Federer again lost to Nadal in Paris but defeated Fernando Gonzalez in Melbourne, Nadal for the second straight time at Wimbledon, and Novak Djokovic in New York. His third time was in 2009, when he was beaten by Nadal at the Australian Open and Juan Martin del Potro at the US Open, yet won Roland Garros by beating Robin Soderling and secured Wimbledon by defeating Roddick.

Novak Djokovic – 2015, 2021, 2023

The most recent player to replicate this achievement is Novak Djokovic, who also reached all four Grand Slam finals in a single season three times, like Federer.

In 2015, Djokovic defeated Andy Murray at the Australian Open, lost to Stan Wawrinka at Roland Garros, then beat Federer at both Wimbledon and the US Open. In 2021, he nearly completed a Calendar Grand Slam, consecutively defeating Daniil Medvedev in Melbourne, Stefanos Tsitsipas in Paris, and Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon, but was defeated by Medvedev in the US Open final. In 2023, Djokovic again appeared in all four major finals, losing to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon but winning against Tsitsipas (Australian Open), Casper Ruud (Roland Garros), and Medvedev (US Open).
