On September 6 local time, the 2025 US Open women's singles title was claimed. Reigning champion and world No.1 Sabalenka overcame the 8th seed Anisimova, playing on home soil, with a score of 6-3, 7-6(3), achieving her 100th career Grand Slam singles main draw win and emphatically defending her US Open title!

In their previous head-to-head encounters, Sabalenka trailed with 3 wins and 6 losses. This final marked their third meeting this season after clashes at the French Open and Wimbledon. Sabalenka won in straight sets in the fourth round of the French Open, while Anisimova triumphed in three sets in the Wimbledon semifinal.
This match continued the style of their earlier meetings, featuring intense baseline rallies as the main theme. In the first set, Anisimova hit 13 winners to dominate the rallies, but 15 unforced errors prevented her from gaining a clear advantage. Sabalenka capitalized on a perfect 100% break point conversion (3/3) to take the set 6-3. In the second set, the players remained evenly matched through 12 games, but Sabalenka surged in the tiebreak with a streak of 6 consecutive points and sealed the victory at her third championship point with an ace, winning 7-6(3).

Sabalenka has reached the finals in the last six hard court Grand Slams, securing 4 titles and 2 runner-up finishes. She is the first female player since Serena Williams (2012-2014) to defend the US Open title successfully. After earning the highest single prize money payout in tennis history of $5 million and 2000 ranking points, Sabalenka maintains her world No.1 position, with total earnings this season exceeding $12 million and a ranking point total of 11,225.
After the match, Sabalenka's excitement was evident. Having narrowly missed titles at the Australian Open and French Open and missing the Wimbledon final, this trophy means even more. “This is absolutely incredible. All the lessons from before make this win extra special. I know many kids back home are watching and cheering for me, which really touches me. I can't let them down; I have to give them positive energy.”
