The 2025 US Open wrapped up successfully. Following a fortnight of intense competition for ranking points, let's take a look at the shifts in the ATP/WTA world rankings this week!
Alcaraz Claims World No.1 Again, Djokovic Back in the Top 4
Alcaraz
By winning the men's singles title at the US Open and earning 2000 ranking points, Alcaraz overtook Sinner to reclaim the world No.1 spot for the first time since September 2023. He also ended the Italian's 65-week reign as the top player. Sinner, the US Open runner-up, dropped to world No.2, while Zverev, who exited early, remains third.
Djokovic
Serbian star Djokovic reached the men's singles semifinals at the US Open, gaining 800 ranking points. His world ranking rose three places, bringing him back into the top 4 after 10 months.
Sabalenka Defends Lead, Anisimova Hits Career High Again
Sabalenka
Sabalenka successfully defended her US Open women's singles title, maintaining her lead over Swiatek and Gauff. Over the past two years, these three players’ US Open results have been champion, quarterfinalist, and round of 16, so the points gap remains unchanged.
Anisimova
US Open women's singles runner-up Anisimova entered the top 5 for the first time, rising to world No.4 with 1300 ranking points. She began the season ranked 36th, then won the WTA1000 Doha title, and earned back-to-back runner-up finishes at Wimbledon and the US Open. Her ranking surged from breaking into the top 20 to now reaching the top 5.
Alexandrova, Osaka, and Alcaraz Close in on Top 10
Naomi Osaka
Several players who performed well at the US Open also improved their rankings, approaching the top 10. Naomi Osaka, returning after maternity leave, re-entered the top 100 last July and fluctuated between No.42 and No.60 over the past year. Thanks to her strong North American season and reaching the US Open semifinals, earning 780 points, she climbed back into the top 20, now ranked No.14.
Alcaraz
Alcaraz also reached the men's singles semifinals at the US Open, adding 800 points to return to the top 20, tied with Ruud at No.13. Alexandrova reached the women's singles round of 16, moving up one spot to No.11, marking a career-high ranking.
Vondrousova and Krejcikova Rankings Recover, Muchova Holds Steady in Top 20

Muchova
Additionally, Czech duo Krejcikova and Vondrousova, who made the US Open quarterfinals, saw steady ranking improvements: Vondrousova jumped 24 places to No.36, Krejcikova rose 22 spots to No.40. Both will aim for seeded positions at the Australian Open during the China season. Although Muchova couldn't defend her semifinal points from last year, her quarterfinal finish prevented a major ranking drop, keeping her at No.15.
