Event Preview
First, credit to the men’s team for coming back from a 2-3 deficit in a stunning comeback. When Liang Jingkun lost to Harimoto Tomokazu and Wang Chuqin was defeated by Matsushima Hikaru, giving Japan match point, I turned off the TV thinking there was no chance. This morning when I turned it back on and saw the Chinese men’s team had won, I was overjoyed. I regret being too hasty last night and not watching the entire match—sorry to the men’s team.
Today’s men’s final against China Hong Kong will definitely be a 3-0 sweep to defend the title. No objections, right?
The women’s final deserves serious attention because the opponents will likely field Harimoto Miwa, Oto Satsuki, and Hashimoto Honoka. On our side? Possibly Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, and Wang Yidi. The Chinese women’s team doesn’t seem able to completely dominate the opposition, so every point counts. We must not underestimate them and be fully prepared. I believe the women’s team can avenge last year’s loss to Japan and claim the championship. Against Japan, there’s no excuse—just go all out and win. What do you all think?
