Jannik Sinner began his defense of the Six Kings Slam title — an exhibition tournament with a $6 million (158 billion VND) prize for the winner — by comfortably defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-2.
Outclassed and just returning after nearly a month away, Stefanos Tsitsipas was clearly no match for Jannik Sinner, even though the Italian player recently faced health issues causing him to withdraw from the Shanghai Masters. In the match that ended last night, Sinner took only 76 minutes to beat Tsitsipas 2–0 (6–2, 6–3), securing a semifinal spot against Novak Djokovic on Thursday (October 16).
Tsitsipas still seems to be struggling with a recurring back injury, which forced him to pause for medical treatment during the second set. The Greek player’s serving performance also dropped notably, winning only 3 out of 19 points (16%) on his second serve.
