The world No. 2 will finish his 2025 season following the ATP Finals hosted in his home country.
After leading Italy to two consecutive Davis Cup titles, Jannik Sinner confirmed he will skip this year's tournament, ending his 2025 season with the ATP Finals in Turin next month.
The 23-year-old, currently ranked second globally, is having one of the brightest seasons of his career. He has won both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, bringing his total Grand Slam titles to four. However, following a demanding schedule and pressure to defend his results, Sinner has chosen to rest early to recharge for the 2026 season.
The 2025 Davis Cup will take place in Bologna, Italy, from November 18 to 23, with the host team facing the risk of losing their crown without their top player.
"Jannik Sinner has not yet revealed if he will return to the Davis Cup in the future. This competition has always been his home, and I firmly believe he will soon represent Italy again. Meanwhile, I have full confidence in the current squad, who are always ready to fight for the nation.", said Italy’s Davis Cup captain Filippo Volandri.
Italy will rely on Matteo Berrettini, Simone Bolelli, Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Musetti, and Andrea Vavassori in Sinner's absence. Playing on indoor hard courts, Berrettini is the biggest hope, although he has faced ongoing physical issues in recent seasons.
On the other hand, Spain will feature Carlos Alcaraz — the world No. 1 and winner of two Grand Slam titles this year. At 22 years old, Alcaraz has already claimed six Major titles and aims to bring Spain back to the Davis Cup summit for the first time since 2019.
Another highlight of the 2025 Davis Cup is Alexander Zverev’s debut for Germany. The world No. 3 is appearing in this prestigious team event for the first time, with ambitions to end Germany’s 32-year title drought since their last victory in 1993.
