ATP Basel: Fonseca reaches his first ATP 500 final, set to compete against Davidovich for the title

On October 25th local time, during the 2025 ATP 500 Basel semifinals, young Brazilian player Fonseca defeated Spanish player Munar 7-6(4), 7-5, advancing to his first ATP 500 final and marking his second appearance in a tour-level final.

“I knew it would be a tough match; he (Munar) plays very well on this court,” Fonseca said after the match. “He put a lot of pressure on me, and many times I had to defend. I don’t enjoy playing against this type of player because I prefer to take the initiative and go for winners. I’m pleased with how I stayed mentally strong after being broken early in the second set. I’m very happy, so let’s keep the excitement going for the final!”

Fonseca’s opponent in the final is the 8th seed Davidovich, who advanced when his opponent Ambehr retired while trailing 7-6(4), 3-1. This marks Davidovich’s fourth final of the season and the fifth singles final of his career, as he aims for his first title.
