Immediately after their engagement, they both broke through, turning the Australian Open into a testament to their love.

As everyone knows, the Australian Open is currently in full swing. Yet, in Australia, tennis is not the only thing taking place. Recently, Argentine players Francisco Cerundolo and Juan Manuel Cerundolo both appeared on the Melbourne tennis courts, showcasing brotherly bonds at the Open; French player Monfils and Ukrainian player Svitolina’s participation in the first round demonstrated the presence of marital love at the tournament; Zhang Shuai’s recent encouragement to Yuan Yue highlighted the friendship blossoming at the Open; and a couple recently proved through their actions that love also thrives at the Australian Open. So, who exactly is this couple? And what results did they achieve at the tournament? Today, this article will take you through their story.

This couple is Australian players Jason Kubler and Madison Inglis. As early as 2022, Madison Inglis secured her first Grand Slam main draw win at the Australian Open. At the same time, Jason Kubler won the mixed doubles title there. That year, Kubler also reached his first Grand Slam round of 16 at Wimbledon.

Some time ago, Jason Kubler and Madison Inglis got engaged, at which point Kubler’s world ranking was still outside the top 180. Despite this, in the 2025 season, he improved his ranking by nearly 500 spots. Because his ranking was still below the threshold for direct entry into the Australian Open main draw, the former mixed and men’s doubles champion had to start from the qualifying rounds.

In the first round of qualifying, Jason Kubler faced French player Mayot, a former Australian Open junior champion with solid skills. Kubler performed exceptionally well, allowing his opponent to win only seven games in total, dominating the match and advancing smoothly. In the second qualifying round, Kubler won in straight sets against Lithuanian player Gombos, who had previously won three Challenger titles and was a strong competitor.

In the final round of qualifying, Kubler faced Belgian player Broc, the 2025 Next Gen Finals runner-up. After losing the first set 3–6, Kubler bounced back to win the second 6–3, pushing the match into a decider. Leading in the final set, Kubler advanced when Broc retired due to shoulder discomfort. Thus, Kubler broke through qualifying to reach the main draw.

When Jason Kubler got engaged, Madison Inglis’s world ranking was also outside the top 170, meaning she too had to start from the Australian Open qualifiers. In the first qualifying round, despite losing the first set, Inglis came back to win two straight sets against Spanish player Romero, advancing with difficulty. In the second round, she battled through three sets to defeat American player Liu Jingwen and move forward. In the final qualifying round, Inglis won 6–4, 6–4 against German player Kopacz, also breaking through to the main draw.

Madison Inglis and Jason Kubler have shown through their efforts that the Australian Open is about more than just tennis — it’s also about love. Unfortunately, Kubler lost in the first round to American player Tiafoe and could not advance further; Inglis, however, defeated fellow Australian Beller to move on with difficulty. Nevertheless, this Australian Open journey has become a uniquely special memory in their relationship. The sweetness of their engagement combined with their professional determination makes this couple’s future one to watch! That’s today’s tennis story, with more to come tomorrow.(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Yixin Jushi)
