On January 21st, following the conclusion of the men’s singles second round in the top half of the Australian Open, multiple seeded players successfully advanced to the third round after enduring rigorous tests.
Third seed Zverev lost the first set to Muller but came back to win 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, firing 45 winners in total. He is set to meet Norrie in the third round, maintaining an unbeaten 6-0 record against him in their past encounters.

Local sixth seed De Minaur also faced a challenge, dropping the first set in a tiebreak but rallying to claim the next three sets 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 over Medjedovic, keeping the home hope for the title alive.


In other matches, three-time finalist Medvedev extended his undefeated season with a 6-7(9), 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Alcaraz. He will face Marosan in the third round. Newly minted Top 10 player Bublik defeated Fajovic 7-5, 6-4, 7-5, maintaining a perfect 6-0 record this season. American youngster Learner dominated Shevchenko 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0, bringing his Australian Open record to 5 wins and 1 loss. He will next challenge Hungarian player Borzhes. Additionally, Paul and Davidovich Fokina both won their matches and will meet in the third round.
