This morning Beijing time, the 2026 Australian Open continued with matches on its fifth day. Chinese players include Wang Xinyu facing Latvian star Ostapenko on Court 6; Shang Juncheng competing against Dutch player Van de Zandschulp on Court 7; Wu Yibing playing American Spizzirri on Court 13; and Zhang Shuai, Guo Hanyu, and Jiang Xinyu participating in the first round of doubles.

On the women’s singles court, in the second round matches held this morning Beijing time, defending champion Keys played steadily to beat fellow American Krueger 6-1, 7-5, advancing smoothly to the third round. In another all-American clash, Pegula dominated Kessler 6-0, 6-2, also moving forward strongly.

Spanish star Badosa was upset by Russian Selekhmeteva with two 6-4 sets, failing to reach the round of 32. Last year’s semifinalist Badosa will see her world ranking drop sharply after the Australian Open. In another match, returning Czech star Ka-Pliskova defeated Indonesia’s top player Zeng Meili 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the round of 32.
