Day 8 of the Australian Open: Acasaba Competes, Upper Half Quarterfinals of Men’s and Women’s Singles Begin

The schedule for Day 8 of the 2026 Australian Open has been announced, kicking off the upper half quarterfinal clashes in men’s and women’s singles.

Alcaraz

On the Rod Laver Arena daytime session, the world No.1 singles players Sabalenka and Alcaraz will headline the matches, with Sabalenka’s opponent being Canadian rising star and 17th seed Mboko; Alcaraz will face American contender Paul across the net. The night session features local favorite Deminar opening against newly minted Top 10 player Bublyk; the highlight women’s singles match between 8th seed Andreyeva and 12th seed Svitolina will close the evening.

Zhang Shuai / Mertens

The women’s doubles 4th seeds Zhang Shuai and Mertens had their match postponed due to extreme heat and it will now take place today as the fourth match on Kia Arena. The junior boys’ and girls’ singles and first round of women’s doubles will also gradually commence, featuring young talents such as Sun Xinran, Geng Xinle, Shao Yushan, Wei Zhangqian, and Kang Kaigao.
