Achieving the Career Grand Slam at a young age paves the way for Carlos Alcaraz to aim for loftier career objectives.
With a historic victory at the 2026 Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz not only closed an important chapter in his career but also began a new phase where bigger goals are now clearer than ever. At 22 years old, the Spanish player declared he is far from satisfied after becoming the youngest male to complete the career Grand Slam.
At Rod Laver Arena, Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 to claim his first title at Melbourne Park, earning his seventh Grand Slam trophy. The Australian Open trophy was the final piece missing, completing his prestigious collection across all four major tournaments. However, immediately after this moment of glory, Alcaraz shifted his focus to the road ahead.
"I know I am making history, and it is a tremendous honor,"Alcaraz shared. "But tennis doesn’t allow you to stop for long. When one tournament ends, your mind immediately turns to the next." The world No.1 admitted he is learning to cherish every moment while still maintaining his hunger for conquest.
After the Australian Open, Alcaraz’s immediate goal is to continue dominating the remaining major tournaments this season, starting with Roland Garros — a place where he holds special memories with two titles. Winning all four Grand Slams within a calendar year — something no male player has achieved since Rod Laver in 1969 — has become an obvious ambition, though the Spanish star insists he does not want to put too much pressure on himself.
Besides the Grand Slams, Alcaraz has set more specific targets. He has won 6 out of 9 ATP 1000 titles and is determined to complete his collection by conquering the remaining three: the Canada Open, Shanghai Masters, and Paris Masters. Additionally, the ATP Finals and especially the Davis Cup with the Spanish team are also priorities for Carlitos.
"I hate losing; that’s my biggest motivation," he said. "There are tournaments I truly want to win at least once, not just for myself but also for my country."
