Post Australian Open Rankings: Djokovic Returns to Top Three, Several Rising Stars Achieve Career-Highs

After the Australian Open final, Djokovic’s ranking improved, and he was named the week’s best progressing player. Djokovic advanced one position to claim No. 3 in the PIF ATP world rankings.

Alcaraz made history in Melbourne by lifting the Australian Open trophy and completing his career Grand Slam. Alongside this 22-year-old Spaniard’s rise, multiple players also climbed the rankings thanks to their excellent showings at the Australian Open.

World No. 3 Novak Djokovic, up one spot

The Serbian star reached his 38th Grand Slam final but narrowly missed out on extending his record to 25 Grand Slam titles and 11 Australian Open crowns. He defeated Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, returning to a Grand Slam final for the first time since Wimbledon 2024 (where he lost to Alcaraz) and re-entered the world’s top three for the first time since August 2024.

World No. 24 Ben Shelton, up 5 places (career-high)

The 20-year-old American became the youngest US male player to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal since 2002, achieving a career-best ranking. He upset Daniel Medvedev in straight sets, improving their Lexus ATP head-to-head to 3-1. He also finished the 2025 season by winning the Next Gen ATP Finals, capping off a perfect year.

World No. 54 Thomas Martin Etcheverry, up 8 places

The 26-year-old Argentine rose 8 spots after a strong Australian Open showing, earning two wins including a grueling five-set victory over Kecmanovic before falling to Bublik.

World No. 61 Marin Čilić, up 9 places

The 37-year-old Croatian veteran made it to the third round in Melbourne, proving he remains competitive. The 2018 Australian Open finalist did not drop a set against Shapovalov and Otte.

40-year-old Stan WawrinkaAlso impressed by reaching the third round of the Australian Open, becoming the oldest player to do so since Ken Rosewall. His ranking surged 26 places to No. 113.

World No. 68 Ethan Quinn, up 12 places

The 21-year-old American soared 12 spots, defeating seeded players Taro and Hurkacz to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the second time in his career (first was at the 2025 French Open).

World No. 7 Taylor Fritz, up 2 places

World No. 19 Francisco Cerúndolo, up 2 places

World No. 27 Valentin Vacherot, up 4 places (career-high)

World No. 30 Frances Tiafoe, up 4 places

World No. 71 Elliot Spizzirrirose 14 spots (career-best). He took a set off Sinner.

World No. 80 Hamad Medjedovic, up 10 places

World No. 87 Alexander Shevchenko, up 10 places

Latest Top 10 list:

Bublikentered the top ten for the first time.

Among the Top 20, only Auger-Aliassime and Kecmanovic competed this week. Both exited in the first round of the Australian Open, so they need to quickly earn points.

Draper and Rune remain injured with no comeback news yet. Fils returned to competition this week after a long break of over six months.
