A Review of Djokovic's Five Records Set at the 2026 Australian Open

Although Djokovic narrowly missed securing his 25th Grand Slam title this year, losing a hard-fought four-set final to Alcaraz, the Serbian star still left an unforgettable mark on Melbourne. Over the past two weeks, Djokovic has made history multiple times, continuously breaking records in men's tennis. The ATP official website highlighted five historic achievements Djokovic accomplished at this Australian Open:

1. By reaching the final at the Australian Open, Djokovic has now amassed 104 match wins at this event, claiming the record for the most singles victories at the tournament (across both men and women). The Serbian ace surpassed Federer’s previous record of 102 wins to take first place. Djokovic has also achieved at least 100 singles wins at three Grand Slam tournaments — the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon — making him the only player in the Open Era to reach this milestone across three different majors.

2. Djokovic already held the record for the most Grand Slam singles match wins in the Open Era, and following this year's Australian Open, he became the first player ever to reach 400 Grand Slam singles victories. He currently leads the Open Era leaderboard with 402 Grand Slam wins. Federer ranks second with 369 wins, followed closely by Serena Williams with 367.

3. At 38 years old, Djokovic became the oldest player in the Open Era to reach the Australian Open men’s singles final, breaking the record previously set by Australian legend Ross Case, who was 37 when he reached the final in 1972.

4. Djokovic has long held the record for the most Grand Slam singles finals appearances with 37, and by reaching his 38th Grand Slam final, the Serbian further extended his record. Chris Evert ranks second in history with 34 finals appearances.

5. Since turning 35, this is Djokovic’s seventh appearance in a Grand Slam singles final, setting a new Open Era record. Previously, Djokovic and Australian legend Ross Case jointly held the record with six finals each after age 35. Serena Williams has reached five Grand Slam finals after turning 35, while Federer has made four.
