Ranking Watch | 40-year-old Wawrinka Returns to Top 100, Mboko Breaks into Top 10

The WTA1000 Doha, ATP500 Rotterdam, ATP500 Dallas, and ATP250 Buenos Aires tournaments wrapped up last week. Here are the new updates in this week’s rankings!

Deminal

Deminal equals his career-best ranking

Australia’s leading player climbed two places to No. 6 in the world rankings after capturing the Rotterdam title. Deminal had previously lost two finals in Rotterdam but secured his first championship in his third final appearance this year by defeating Aliassime.

Cilic Returns to Top 50

Former US Open champion Cilic reached the semifinals in Dallas, boosting his world ranking by 18 spots to No. 43 this week, marking his first return to the top 50 since May 2023.

Wawrinka

Wawrinka Reenters Top 100

The 40-year-old Swiss veteran Wawrinka has returned to the world’s top 100 for the first time since July 2024. He will turn 41 in March. The last 40-year-old player to be in the top 100 was Federer, who ranked No. 97 in June 2022. Wawrinka won his first-round match in Rotterdam but lost to eventual champion Deminal in the second round.

Mboko

Mboko Breaks into Top 10

The 19-year-old Canadian rising star reached the Doha final last week and entered the top 10 in the world rankings for the first time this week. This marks her fourth WTA final (all within the past seven months) and her second appearance in a WTA1000 final. Mboko climbed from outside the top 300 to the top 10 in just 14 months.

Muguruza

Muguruza Rises to No.11

The 29-year-old Czech player Muguruza captured her highest-level career title in Doha, having previously won only a WTA250 event in Seoul in 2019. She holds a 12-2 record this season (including a win over Rybakina in Brisbane) and dropped just one set on her way to the Doha title. Muguruza’s career-best ranking is No. 8; this week she jumped eight places from No. 19 to No. 11.

Sakkari Returns to Top 50

Former world No. 3 Sakkari reached a semifinal in Doha for the first time since Charleston in 2024. Her run included a quarterfinal upset over Swiatek — her first win over a top-five player since beating Gauff at Indian Wells in 2024. Sakkari’s ranking surged 18 spots from No. 52 to No. 34.

Cocciaretto Back in Top 50

Cocciaretto started 2026 strongly, winning her second career title in Hobart as a qualifier in January. Last week, as a lucky loser, she reached her first WTA1000 quarterfinal in Doha. She defeated Gauff in the second round for her third career victory over a top-10 player. Cocciaretto’s ranking jumped 17 places from No. 57 to No. 40, returning to the top 50 for the first time since October 2024.
